Contrary to earlier reports, which claimed that Mavin’s act, Tiwa Savage, filed for divorce from her estranged husband, Tee Billz, a source close to the family told TheCableng, that Tee Billz’s was the one who actually filed for divorce when it was clear to him that Tiwa places her career over and above his welfare, hence his decision to call off the marriage and relocate to the US for a fresh start.
According to the source, “Tiwa’s career was more important to her than TeeBillz’s wellbeing,” the source said, adding that: “He wants to move on and start life afresh”
In 2016, their marriage made frontpage news after Teebillz embarked on a lengthy Instagram rant which culminated in an attempt to commit suicide.
The chief executive officer of 323 Entertainment was prevented from jumping into the Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge, Lagos by colleagues and bystanders.
Responding to his allegations of neglect and infidelity, Tiwa Savage granted an explosive 45mins length interview, during which she accused him of being infidelity and living above his means to the point of getting neck deep in debt.
After the public exchange between both, tempers simmered and TeeBillz sought help for depression and mental breakdown.
Working with Lanre Olusola, a life coach, he underwent rehabilitation and even appeared on a TV program to talk about his progress and how well his recovery process has been.
“The way I handle things now is completely different from how I acted in the past. I do better now because I know better, and If I had gone through the experience before now, it probably wouldn’t make sense to me until I go through some challenging situations. But I thank God that I have been able to overcome all those through the guidance of my coach”, he said.
The singer married TeeBillz in 2013 and they have a son together.
